Firstly children develop their social skills when using technology devices (Education.com, 2014) Visit http://www.education.com/reference/article/technology-enhance-children-development/ for more information. When children engage in technology devices social interactions can occur where children ask questions to others and the educator, direct one another in regards to helping, sharing and taking turns. Children also acknowledge and socialise with one another when either watching or working together (Heft & Swaminathan, 2002; Shahrimin & Butterworth, 2002). Researchers after all do state that computers and other technolgies may increase the amount of communication and positive interaction between children (Clements, 1994; Haugland & Wright, 1997).

Children also develop their cognitive skills when using ICT’s. This is done by allowing children to be on task for much longer periods (Bergin, Ford, & Hess, 1993). Computers, laptops and Ipads allow children to work independently at their own pace where scaffolding experiences occur (Parette, Hourcade, & Heiple, 2000). With computers and other technology devices such as cameras children can participate in simulations and manipulate variables that might not be possible in the real world (Van Scoter, Ellis, & Railsback, 2001) Visit http://www.netc.org/earlyconnections/byrequest.html. In this class group your child is currently being exposed to different types of books and the various types of weather that can occur. Research indicates that the best academic results occur when technology is clearly related to other classroom activities and curriculum (Education.com, 2014).
