Another reason for using icts is because it’s within the Australian national curriculum. This curriculum is what we follow when we teach your children. So what does the curriculum say in regards to ICT’s?

The below slide show explains this further. Click on the image to see the entire description. You can also click an image once and flick through the entire slides using the right hand and left hand arrows.

WITHIN THE CURRICULUM

Australian National Curriculum

Students develop ICT capabilities when accessing, creating and communicating info and ideas with one another (Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority, 2014). Visit http://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/GeneralCapabilities/information-and-communication-technology-capability/introduction/introduction. The capability allows students to make the most out of the various technologies available to them within their learning environment (ACARA, 2014)

Melbourne Declaration

A previous document that helped in creating the current curriculum recognised the rapid changes in which people, share, develop and communicate with ICT (ACARA, 2014) . The Melbourne Declaration on the Educational Goals for Young Australians recognised that within this digital age young people need to be highly skilled in technology use (MCEETYA, 2008). For more information visit http://www.mceecdya.edu.au/verve/_resources/national_declaration_on_the_educational_goals_for_young_australians.pdf

Melbourne Declaration

This linking to goal two of the Melbourne Declaration where it states "All young Australians become successful learners confident and creative individuals, and active and informed citizens (MCEETYA, 2008, p. 8). This is where all children are creative and productive users of technology, especially ICT (MCEETYA, 2008).

Smart boards, laptops & computers

ICT’s attract various audiences and can be adapted in different contexts including early childhood (ACARA, 2014). To do this educators must allow students to have a range of resources within the classroom (Haugland, 2000) This is described in the teaching context were various technologies are used on a daily basis including a smart board, laptop and camera.
